New composting latrines can dramatically improve the health of a community: eliminating water-borne diseases like cholera by providing a sanitary form of waste management. Each latrine serves one family, and includes walk-up stairs, a brand-new toilet seat, and concrete walls, floor, and storage tank. After processing, the compost is tilled into a community garden where nearly 20 families grow sustainable crops. This project saves lives and soil every day.
