Jahayra was barely a teenager when we first met her. She had just completed the 8th grade with straight A’s, but she couldn’t afford the bus or the books for high school. EAB gave her a scholarship and watched her flourish, beating “the 12% odds” through high school and right into college. (Only 12% of poor rural schoolchildren in the DR finish high school.)
Thanks to your generous support, on December 5, 2015, Jahayra became a college graduate! She is the first person in her community of Franco Bidó to do so, and she hopes to become a teacher there. The odds were stacked against her but thanks to your kindness, she has a better tomorrow.
Through EAB, Jahayra and so many others have realized hope.
